Head Coach: Marty Kavanagh
Marty Kavanagh continues to inject his enthusiasm and philosophies into the Stockton baseball program as he enters his fifth season as the head coach of the Ospreys. In the last three years, Kavanagh has led Stockton to its three highest win totals in school history and an ECAC Metro championship. Kavanagh’s teams also have made giant strides in the New Jersey Athletic Conference, possibly the strongest Division III league in the nation. The Ospreys have won 17 NJAC games over the last three seasons after just five conference victories from 2001-03.

Kavanagh coached the Ospreys to an 18-19 overall record last year, narrowly missing a second consecutive .500-or-better season, a big step for a program that has posted only two winning records in 13 years. The 2005 season was a landmark campaign for Stockton baseball as Kavanagh led the Ospreys to a 20-16 mark that ended a streak of 10 consecutive losing seasons. Stockton earned its first ECAC playoff berth and promptly won the ECAC Metro championship while also setting a school record for wins.

Kavanagh set the stage for Stockton’s 2005 success a year earlier. His 2004 team established a new plateau for wins with a 16-19-1 mark that signaled a 12-win improvement from 2003, which was Kavanagh’s first season as the Stockton head coach. Kavanagh inherited a program in transition and began the rebuilding process in 2003 by bringing an enthusiastic and knowledgeable approach to Stockton baseball.

Prior to his arrival at Stockton, Kavanagh completed a five-year stint as the head coach at Cumberland County College. He resurrected the baseball program at Cumberland CC, which had been dormant for 16 years, and led the Dukes to a 126-60 record during his tenure. Kavanagh helped seven players become NJCAA All-Americans and 15 of his players were offered NCAA Division I scholarships. Kavanagh’s teams typically play an exciting and aggressive style of baseball that includes bunts, steals and hit-and-run plays.

Darren Comegys returns for his fourth season on the Stockton baseball coaching staff. Comegys has helped Stockton to its three highest win totals in school history. Prior to joining the Ospreys, he previously coached at Lenape High School from 1997 through 2001. As a player, Comegys earned All-State honors in 1987 and graduated from Glassboro State College (now Rowan University) in 1988. He and his wife Colleen live in Tabernacle, New Jersey.

Tom Webber
Tom Webber is entering his second season as the pitching coach for the Stockton baseball team. Webber possesses many years of baseball coaching experience at the high school level. He was the long-time head coach at Brick Township High School and he was named the Ocean County Coach of the Year by the Newark Star-Ledger in 2004 after leading Brick to a county championship and two victories in the NJSIAA tournament.
