Led by a trio of outstanding runners, the Stockton men’s cross country team won two races and earned one second-place finish out of nine meets during the 2006 season. Junior Matt Van Orden and seniors Rich Luettchau and Dennis Loren led the Ospreys to victories at the Philadelphia Metro Small College Invitational and the Belmont Classic in successive weeks. Stockton also began the season with a second-place effort at the Delaware Valley Invitational.

Later in the season, the Ospreys finished fourth in the NJAC Championships on their home course, narrowly missing out on third place by just one point. Based on their efforts at the conference meet, Van Orden earned NJAC All-Conference Second Team honors for the second consecutive time and Loren also collected a spot on the NJAC Second Team.

Luettchau, a three-time NJAC Runner of the Week, was the top scorer for the Ospreys in four meets, Van Orden was the first Stockton runner in three races and Loren took the top spot on the team twice. Newcomers Pat Collins and Jon Porubsky also contributed as scorers throughout the season.

The Stockton women’s cross country team utilized its balance and depth to register one meet victory, two second-place finishes and one third place in nine 2006 races. The Ospreys used the home-course advantage to win the NJAIAW Championships and finish second in the NJAC Championships. Stockton also captured second place in the Philadelphia Metro Small College Invitational and third at the Delaware Valley Invitational.

Individually, senior Jacqui Wojtaszek won a race for the first time in her career at the NJAIAW Championships. Wojtaszek was the top finisher for Stockton in four of nine races, as was senior Lisa Chatman. Three Ospreys, Chatman, Michelle Barile and Erin McCarthy, earned NJAC All-Conference Second Team honors. Barile also was Stockton’s top scorer at the CTC Championships. Danielle Sarver had a strong freshman campaign for the Ospreys. Sarver was named the NJAC Rookie of the Week four times.
