JOHN O’HARA AND MATT HUNT EARN NJCBA ALL-STATE BASEBALL HONORS

John O'Hara
Matt Hunt
Stockton freshman pitcher John O’Hara (Clayton/ Gloucester Catholic) was named to New Jersey Collegiate Baseball Association (NJCBA) Division II/III All-State Third Team and freshman pitcher/first baseman Matt Hunt (Marlton/St. Joseph) was selected to the NJCBA Division II/III All-Rookie Team. O’Hara and Hunt were key performers for a Stockton team that set a school record with 22 wins and finished the season as the ECAC Metro co-champion.

O’Hara, Stockton’s closer, tied the school record and tied for third in the NJAC with four saves during his freshman season. O’Hara made 14 appearances on the mound and posted a 4-1 record with 17 strikeouts and a 1.47 ERA in 18.1 innings pitched. Opponents batted just .197 against the hard-throwing righty. O’Hara also was named the NJAC Rookie Pitcher of the Week once during the season.

Hunt went 3-3 with 29 strikeouts and a 3.02 ERA in 50.2 innings pitched for the Ospreys. The lefty made eight starts, hurled one complete game and led all Stockton starters in earned run average. Hunt was named the NJAC Rookie Pitcher of the Week twice and NJCBA Rookie Pitcher of the Week once. He also played first base when not pitching, and batted .333 with 16 runs, a team-high three triples and 12 RBI.
