SAMANTHA BEAN AND DANIELLE SARVER EARN NJAC ROOKIE OF THE WEEK AWARDS

Samantha Bean
Danielle Sarver
Richard Stockton freshman forward Samantha Bean (Manchester/Manchester Twp.) was named the NJAC Women’s Soccer Rookie of the Week and freshman Danielle Sarver (Erial/Timber Creek) was chosen as the NJAC Women’s Cross Country Rookie of the Week. Both student-athletes were repeat NJAC weekly award winners. Sarver collected her fourth NJAC Rookie of the Week nod while Bean captured rookie honors for the second time this season.

Bean played a role in both Stockton goals during the team’s 3-2 overtime loss to Elizabethtown in the first round of the NCAA Tournament on Saturday. She assisted on Stockton’s first-half tally and then scored the game-tying goal at 66:55 to force overtime. Bean finished her rookie season as the leading scorer for the Ospreys with 17 points on six goals and five assists. Stockton went 15-5-3 and made its first NCAA Tournament appearance since 1998.

Sarver capped a solid freshman season by finishing 149th out of 208 runners at the NCAA Atlantic Regional meet on Saturday. She was the fifth Stockton scorer in the six-kilometer race with a time of 26:54. Sarver was one of the top five runners for the Ospreys in six of nine meets this year. Although the cross country season is now complete, Sarver will continue running as a member of the Stockton indoor track & field team this winter.
