| AUDRA SCHAPPELL NAMED NJAC FIELD ATHLETE OF THE WEEK | ||||

Stockton senior Audra Schappell (Mullica Hill/Clearview)
was named the NJAC Field Athlete of the Week after a dominant performance
at the NJAC Championships over the weekend. Schappell won
the discus (42.55m), hammer throw (46.54m) and shot put (12.25m) at the
conference meet. She was named the NJAC Field Athlete of the Week for the
second consecutive time and eighth time this year (two indoor, six outdoor).
Schappell was named the Most Outstanding Female Athlete at the NJAC meet on Saturday. She won the discus for the third straight year and repeated as the league champion in the shot put. Schappell won the hammer throw for the first time in 2007 after finishing second last season. She also was voted the Outstanding Female Field Athlete at the NJAC meet a year ago. Schappell currently is a provisional qualifier for the NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships, ranked 13th with a best discus throw of 43.73 meters. She also is an NCAA provisional qualifier in the hammer throw, in which she is rated 27th with a distance of 46.54 meters. Last year, Schappell earned All-American status by finishing sixth in the discus at the NCAA Championships. |
