ALL-AMERICAN LISA SHEPHERD NAMED NJAC FIELD ATHLETE OF THE WEEK

Stockton freshman Lisa Shepherd (Mays Landing/ Oakcrest) was named the NJAC Women’s Field Athlete of the Week yesterday. Shepherd collected the award for her performance at the NCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field Championships, where she became an All-American by placing eighth in the high jump. Shepherd cleared a height of 5’4.50” (1.64 meters) in the event on May 25 at the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh, the site of the NCAA meet.

Shepherd earned her first NJAC Field Athlete of the Week honor after being chosen as the NJAC Rookie of the Week six times this year. She garnered three rookie awards apiece during the indoor and outdoor track & field seasons. In outdoor competition, Shepherd won the high jump in five of nine meets and also tied for first once. She was the NJAC high jump champion both indoors and outdoors, earning NJAC All-Conference First Team honors at both meets.
