||||
Former
Richard Stockton pole vaulter Kim Marino (Middletown/Middletown
North) recently was selected to the NCAA Outdoor Track & Field
Division III Silver Anniversary Team by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross
Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA). Marino won the NCAA women’s
pole vault championship in 2003 and also earned a second outdoor All-American
honor with an eighth-place finish in the pole vault at the 2004 NCAA meet.
Marino won the 2003 national title with a vault of 13’1¾”, and she remains the only competitor in meet history to top 13 feet in the women’s pole vault. Marino competed at the NCAA outdoor meet four times overall, placing 14th in 2001 and 15th in 2002. She also was the 2003 NCAA champion in the indoor women’s pole vault and a three-time All-American in indoor track & field as well. Marino was named the NJAC Female Athlete of the Year in 2003 and later was voted to the Academic All-America® College Division Women’s Track/Cross Country Third Team in 2004. She graduated from Stockton in May 2004 with a bachelor’s degree in Historical Studies. The Silver Anniversary Team was chosen by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) to commemorate the 25th anniversary of women competing in the NCAA outdoor track & field championships. The first combined NCAA Division III Men's and Women's Outdoor Track and Field Championships were held in 1982 at North Central College in Naperville, Illinois. |
