Six Richard Stockton women’s soccer players were named to the NJAC All-Conference Team, which was announced today by the league office. Senior Rachel Friel (Hamilton/Nottingham), juniors Val Davison (Cranbury/Princeton) and Sharon Davis (Burlington/ Burlington Twp.) and freshman Laura O’Shea (Petersburg/Ocean City) were selected to the NJAC Second Team. Sophomore Alex Rogers (Medford/ Shawnee) and freshman Courtney Dougherty (Ocean City/Ocean City) each were voted NJAC Honorable Mention.

Friel received an NJAC all-conference nod for the fourth consecutive year. She was named to the NJAC Second Team for the second straight year after Honorable Mention kudos in 2003 and 2004. In addition to being the backbone of the Stockton defense, Friel has tallied three goals and three assists for nine points on the offensive end. She has started all 85 games that Stockton has played over the last four seasons.

Davison is now a three-time NJAC All-Conference honoree including a First Team selection last year and an Honorable Mention spot in 2004. Davison has registered three goals and two assists for eight points while starting all 22 games for Stockton this year. Davis also was a repeat NJAC All-Conference player after earning a First Team nod last season. Davis has started all 22 games this year as a key defender for the Ospreys, and she has one assist.

Former high school teammates O’Shea and Dougherty are two of Stockton’s top three scorers as rookies this year. O’Shea leads the Ospreys in goals with six and points with 15 while Dougherty has five goals, including a team-high four game-winners, for 10 points that rank third in the team scoring race.

Rogers has started 21 games in goal for Stockton this season, missing one match due to injury. She is second in the NJAC with 8.2 shutouts and fourth in the league with 97 saves. Rogers also has registered a 1.06 goals against average on the way to her first NJAC All-Conference honor in her second season with the Ospreys.
