Five Richard Stockton volleyball players and first-year head coach Allison Walker were recognized as the New Jersey Athletic Conference announced its postseason honorees. Colleen Bachmann (Closter/Northern Valley) repeated as the NJAC Defensive Player of the Year and Allison Walker garnered the NJAC Coach of the Year nod. Amanda Burkart (Cresskill/Cresskill) and Audrey O’Donnell (Bogota/Immaculate Heart) were voted to the NJAC All-Conference First Team. Christine Aletras (Ridgewood/Ridgewood) and Lauren Schaffer (East Brunswick/East Brunswick) were named to the NJAC All-Conference Second Team.

Bachmann earned her second NJAC Defensive Player of the Year honor for her efforts as Stockton’s libero. She stands fifth in the league in digs (4.01 dpg) and sixth in the NJAC in aces (0.68 apg). A senior, Bachmann is Stockton’s all-time leader with 2,251 digs and she ranks third in school history with 229 career aces.

Walker captured the NJAC Coach of the Year award by guiding the Ospreys to a 29-6 record and an NJAC championship in her first season as a college head coach. She took the next step with a Stockton team that had been the conference runner-up the last three years by leading the Ospreys to their first league title and NCAA Tournament berth since 2000.

Burkart, a sophomore, was elevated to the NJAC All-Conference First Team after collecting NJAC Second Team honors in 2005. She ranks second in the league in kills (4.38 kpg) and her 570 slams are the second-highest single season total in school history. Burkart also stands second on the team in aces (0.58 apg) and third in digs (3.29 dpg) and hitting percentage (.225).

O’Donnell made a significant impact upon joining the Stockton team as a sophomore transfer this season. She ranks seventh in the NJAC in blocks (0.92 bpg) while also averaging 2.54 kills and 2.84 digs per game. Aletras, also a sophomore, leads the league in assists, and her 1,446 dishes this season are a Stockton single season record. Aletras also stands fourth in the NJAC in digs (4.08 dpg).

Schaffer had a career year as a senior in 2006. She ranks fourth in the conference in blocks (0.95 bpg) and ninth in hitting percentage (.251). Schaffer led the Ospreys in blocks in each of her four seasons and her 412 career stuffs place her second on Stockton’s all-time list.
