BURKART NAMED NJAC VOLLEYBALL PLAYER OF THE WEEK |

Stockton sophomore outside hitter Amanda Burkart (Cresskill/Cresskill)
was named the NJAC Volleyball Player of the Week today. Burkart
earned the award for the fourth time this season after leading Stockton
to its first NJAC volleyball championship since 2000. She averaged 5.38
kills and 4.38 digs in two victories for the Ospreys last week.
Burkart tallied a team-high 24 kills plus 18 digs in Stockton’s victory over Montclair State in the NJAC semifinals on November 2. Two days later, she registered a team-high 19 kills and added 17 digs as the Ospreys topped New Jersey City to win the NJAC championship and clinch an automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament. Burkart, a 2005 NJAC All-Conference Second Team selection as a freshman, currently leads the team and ranks second in the league in kills (4.34 kpg). She also stands second on the team in aces (0.58 apg), and third in digs (3.23 dpg) and hitting percentage (.225). Burkart and the Ospreys will travel to Juniata for the NCAA Mid-Atlantic Regional later this week. Stockton, 26-8 with a 12-match winning streak, will play Eastern University on Thursday at 6 pm in its NCAA first-round match. |
