| LAUREN SCHAFFER NAMED TO ESPN THE MAGAZINE ACADEMIC ALL-DISTRICT II VOLLEYBALL TEAM | ||||

Stockton senior middle hitter Lauren Schaffer (East Brunswick/East
Brunswick) has been named to the 2006 ESPN The Magazine Academic
All-District II College Division Volleyball Team. Schaffer
was voted to the District II Second Team. She is a Business/ Accounting
major with an impressive 3.90 grade point average at Stockton. The squad
was chosen by members of the College Sports Information Directors of America
(CoSIDA).
Schaffer currently ranks fifth in the NJAC in blocks (0.94 bpg) and eighth in the league in hitting percentage (.255). She is second all-time at Stockton with 406 career blocks, and her 120 blocks this season are the fifth-highest single season total in school history. Schaffer has played in all 32 matches this year as a regular starter for the Ospreys, who won the NJAC championship and earned an automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament. Schaffer was a 2005-06 NJAC Academic All-Conference Second Team honoree. She completed a summer 2006 mentorship program at the Deloitte & Touche accounting firm and she has already accepted a full-time position at Deloitte & Touche beginning next September. Schaffer is slated to graduate from Stockton with her bachelor’s degree in May 2007. The CoSIDA District II College Division consists of all non-Division I schools in New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Maryland, Delaware, West Virginia and the District of Columbia. Nominees must be a starter or important reserve who have reached sophomore academic and athletic standing with at least a 3.20 cumulative grade point average. |
