Daniel Moscovici is a Professor of Environmental Studies & Sustainability in the School of Natural Sciences and Mathematics at Stockton University. The university has a campus in the heart of the ecologically sensitive Pinelands National Reserve and another on the world famous Atlantic City Boardwalk.

Dan has a B.S. in Natural Resource Economics from Lehigh University (’00), an M.B.A. with focus on International Environmental Management from Villanova University (’03), an M.S. and Ph.D. from the University of Pennsylvania (’05, ‘09) in Environmental Studies and Environmental Planning, respectively. His research and educational activities focus on defining, understanding and evaluating planning options for sustainable outcomes, specifically those that find balance between the economic, environmental and social perspectives. He is also interested in planning for energy, large-scale regional planning, the impact of tourism, and the study of pedagogy. Research topics of particular interest include sustainable viticulture and oenology to improve state resources; cruise ships and impacts on island nations; land preservation’s effect on the economy, environment and society of large regional areas, and ski mountain sustainability and climate change adaptation.

In addition to this work, Dan has a very international focus. While being raised in the United States, he was born in Romania and holds dual US/EU citizenship and has lived in Australia. He has traveled widely, given lectures on sustainability topics in Chile, Netherlands, Greece, and S. Korea, and also led student field study courses in Aruba, Costa Rica, Commonwealth of Dominica, Italy, and the UK. Conference presentations have been given in Canada, South Africa, the Netherlands, France, as well as many domestic cities. He strives to be an international scholar – informing his research and teaching.

When not in classroom you might find Dan in the local parks biking, hiking, camping, kayaking, snowshoeing, rock climbing or as a ski patroller in the Poconos. He lives just outside Philadelphia with his wife Bevan and children Zoe, Kaz & Mak.
