  • There are lightweight versions of the development software available free from Microsoft that you might want to consider

    Visual Web Developer Express: This includes only the web application parts of the full Visual Studio, so its a smaller install. It can handle everything we need for this course.

    SQL Server 2008 Express: This is as a stand alone program, but is also included with Visual Studio, and could be all you need for working on your own computer. If you use this it would be useful to download and install the free SQL Server 2008 Management Studio Express.

CSIS 4135 - Spring 2012

An in-depth study of the design and implementation of dynamic database backed web applications, this course involve learning and applying principles of software engineering, design, and security.  Implementing the web applications will use a variety of technologies and development tools, such as ASP.NET, MVC, HTML, XML, SQL, jQuery, and web services.

WARNING: Programming courses are notoriously time consuming and this course is no exception. It requires a significant time commitment and students joining this class should be prepared to devote a large amount of time to computer work outside of class.
