ENVL Concentrations
The Geographic Information Systems Concentration is useful for ENVL
majors as well as non-majors. Students are trained in using this powerful
computer application to manipulate geographic information. Contact an ENVL
preceptor for more information.
The Energy Certificate Program leads to a special energy certificate
upon graduation; students in this cluster combine courses in physics,
economics, and environmental studies. For further details, see the Energy
Certificate program in the Bulletin.
The Concentration in Environmental Crime is for students interested in
doing work in criminal justice and environmental studies. It includes a
sequence of five offerings drawn from the criminal justice and environmental
studies curricula. Contact the Criminal Justice program or your preceptor.
The Archaeology Concentration requires a student to concentrate on
courses in anthropology, geology, and environmental studies as a focus on
graduate school or a career in contract archaeology. Contact the
Sociology/Anthropology program.
The Cultural Ecology Area combines work in anthropology and
environmental studies; students study relationships between human cultures and
environments. Contact the Sociology/Anthropology program.
The Urban Studies Area is for students interested in urban problems and
combines the social sciences with environmental studies to better understand
the social, economic, and environmental problems of cities. Contact the
Political Science program.
