Stockton Center for Community Engagement
Naturalization classes are taught at the new Academic Center in Atlantic City, NJ on Tuesdays from 6:00 pm to 7:30 pm. Any community member eligible to take the naturalization exam is welcome in the class which is facilitated by Stockton students and faculty.
New Angles to Success is a mentoring program which offers Stockton students training on the Hooked on Fishing not on Drugs curriculum and fish biology and angling skills, ecology, stewardship, sea-to-table, food security, ecotourism, and life skills. Our trained Stockton students will then become valuable mentors to children in grades 5 and 6 from the Atlantic City school district.

Two English classes are facilitated by Stockton students in Atlantic County:
- Saint Mary’s Episcopal Church: 118 West Bayview Ave., Pleasantville, 08232 on Wednesdays and Thursdays from 4:30 pm to 6:30 pm
- Ministerio Por Gracia Sois Salvos: 111 North 3rd St., Pleasantville. 08232 on Fridays from 4:30 pm to 7 pm.
*Stockton students who wish to volunteer in these programs require preauthorization from the SCCE.
SCCE maintains a monthly food drive for Stockton faculty and staff to contribute. Stockton students assist in collecting and recording food donations. The donations are taken to local pantries and kitchens. Food collections take place on the third Thursday of the full months of the semester.
The Afternoon Tea with Older Adults is a collaboration between SCCE and the Pleasantville and Atlantic City Housing Authoritys which offers the opportunity for older adults to play the following games: checkers, chess, cards and dominoes. Sessions will occur from 3:00pm to 4:30pm on the first four Fridays of each month. Please check the "I Want to Volunteer" button for the exact dates and locations.
Stockton students and Atlantic City High School students work together under the supervision of a professional chef at the Atlantic City High School on Monday afternoons from 2:30 to 4:30pm to prepare and deliver 150 meals for families in need within Atlantic City, Pleasantville, and Galloway.
The program is a collaboration among the SCCE, the Atlantic City Police Department (ACPD), the Pleasantville Police Department (PPD), the City of Pleasantville, and the Atlantic City Housing Authority and Urban Redevelopment Agency. On Mondays through Thursdays from 3:00 pm to 5:00 pm, volunteers from SCCE, ACPD, PPD, and the AC Housing Authority tutor children. Please click the link above for locations.
