Dual Credit in Survey of Mathematics
Survey of Mathematics is a Stockton University course that is being offered in a dual-credit
format for high school seniors who have taken Algebra II but who are not quite ready
for a traditional Precalculus class. This 4-credit course fulfills a Quantitative
Reasoning requirement at Stockton and may transfer to other universities, as long
as the student earns a C or better.
The course curriculum covers various topics from the Math Accuplacer Exam that many
students are required to take for placement at whatever college they choose. In addition
to earning 4 credits, students should be much better prepared for the Math Accuplacer
Exam after taking this course. This makes it less likely students will need to take
non-credit, developmental mathematics courses in college and also gives them greater
opportunities to pursue STEM track majors.
