Atlantic City, NJ. The Christmas portion of Handels Messiah and a medley of classic Christmas songs will be presented 7:30 p.m. Sunday Dec. 12th as The Richard Stockton College of NJ presents its annual holiday choral event.

For the first time ever, the concert will take place in St. Nicholas of Tolentine Roman Catholic Church, S. Tennessee and Pacific Avenues in Atlantic City.

This year our concert has been made a part of the official celebration of the City of Atlantic Citys 150th Anniversary, and the performance will be dedicated to the memory of longtime public servant and gospel music singer Sondra Usry Hollingsworth, said Dr. Beverly Vaughn, Director of the event. It was always Sondras dream to bring the Messiah to Atlantic City and we are thrilled to have found such a beautiful home for the concert in the city.

Tickets for the concert are $8 for the general public, $6 for senior citizens and students with ID in advance. If the event is not sold out in advance, $8 tickets will be available at the door on the evening of the performance. Tickets are available at the Stockton Performing Arts Center Box Office. Call (609) 652-4661 for information.

Vaughn said one of her choir members. Ellen Loughney, an Atlantic County Assistant Prosecutor suggested St. Nicholas to host the event. We called Father Hodges and he graciously opened the doors of this magnificent facility to us, she said.

As usual, Vaughn has organized a choir of some 200 voices, featuring people of all cultures and backgrounds. Complete community choirs are a part of the group as well as individuals from throughout New Jersey.

Vaughn said there was still room in the choir for individuals and groups who wish to perform. Rehearsals take place on Monday nights, 7:30 p.m. in the Elizabeth Alton Auditorium (A-Wing) on the Galloway campus of the College or call the Office of Arts and Humanities at (609) 652-4505 for more information.
