Peer Education

Peer Education is a student-led program that seeks to promote wellness to the entire student body. Peer Educators present information on various health related topics, values, and activities including drug, alcohol and tobacco use, and sexual health education. Peer Educators are positive role models on campus who promote healthy and safe behaviors, reinforce social norms, and act as approachable resources to all students who are looking for guidance on health and wellness.

There are many opportunities within the Wellness Center to become a peer educator:

Student Peer Educator's strive to provide education and information, and referrals when necessary, to Stockton students in an effort to promote overall health and wellness along with responsible life choices.

In order to become involved with Peer Education at Stockton, students can complete GEN2201 Peer Education, offered during the fall semester. Those students who desire to be certified as a peer educator that pass the course will be directed to take a certification exam sponsored by the organization Bacchus and Gamma under NASPA. Those students are eligible to be hired by the Wellness Center to work as a paid peer educator when there is an opening. Any student can become involved with peer education by attending the peer education club known as CLAWS (Collaborative Learning Advocates of Wellness at Stockton), that meets on Thursday's from 4:30pm-6:00pm at a location to be determined.

So Why Become a Peer Educator?

Alcohol and Drug Grant Educators (ADGEs) Strive to provide education that will allow Stockton Students to graduate not only with healthy minds, but with healthy responsible life choices as well. ADGEs work within a college community to promote greater well-being, provide information about specific alcohol and drug related issues, increase awareness of care resources on campus, encourage responsible safe choice-making, and advocate for changing and challenging campus social norms regarding healthy behaviors.

Alcohol and Drug Grant Educators should enroll in GEN2215, Peer Education: Drugs and Alcohol, which is offered during both the fall and spring semesters.

The Wellness Center is now accepting applications for Alcohol and Drug Peer Educators and an Alcohol and Drug Peer Coordinator.To apply for a position please complete the application below and submit to michael.levin@stockton.edu or drop off in J-204.

WGSC Peer Educators and student workers are a vital part of the center. The Women's, Gender & Sexuality Center is accepting applications for WGSC Peer Educators, Osprey Advocates and Federal Study Student Workers.
