REACT Research Lab
About The REACT Lab

Welcome to the Lifespan - REACT Lab!
We are a psychology research lab at Stockton University directed by Dr. Hannah Wolfe.
Our lab name is an acronym we use for: Lifespan Regulation of Emotions And CogniTion.
Our overarching research focus is emotion regulation in college-aged students and
older adult community members.
Our goal is to understand how adults of all ages regulate their emotions in different ways and what outcomes these regulation strategies can have.
Our research projects range from online surveys to in-person eye-tracking experiments.
If you are interested in participating in one of our studies (or want to learn more about our research), please contact: Hannah.Wolfe@stockton.edu.

Aging over The Rainbow
We’re recruiting participants for a new study, "Aging Over the Rainbow," to explore how stressors and resilience factors shape the health and wellbeing of
older sexual minority women. If you are eligible to participate (or know someone else
who might be), we kindly ask you to fill out our interest form.
Eligibility Criteria
- 65+ years of age
- identify as lesbian, bisexual, queer, and/or other sexual minority woman, inclusive of cisgender and transgender women
- have access to the internet

- Participants will receive $10 compensation.
Dr. Hannah Wolfe, Ph.D.
Hi there! I am an assistant professor of psychology at Stockton University and the principle investigator (PI) of the Lifespan - REACT Lab. I earned my PhD in experimental psychology from Northeastern University where I investigated emotion regulation tactics like acceptance in younger and older adults. I use methods like eye-tracking, physiological recording, and cognitive tests, in tandem with self-reports, to understand how adults across the lifespan experience, understand, and manage their emotions, as well as how their emotions and their relationship to their emotions can impact other cognitive processes like attention and memory. To read more about my research, please visit my Google Scholar page.
One of my favorite parts of research is the people that I get to meet, from research assistants to local older adult participants, and how their experiences inform new research ideas for my own lab. If you’re interested in working with me, participating in a study, or simply connecting, please reach out to me via email!

For Students
If you are interested in joining the Lifespan - REACT Lab, please reach out to Dr.
Hannah Wolfe via email at Hannah.Wolfe@stockton.edu. Reaching out earlier is always better. I am often able to accommodate research assistants
in a number of ways, including: volunteering, Independent Study course credit, and
Projects for Distinction (“PfD”).
To learn more about each option, please visit the Psychology program’s research page (check out the tab called “Ways to Acquire Undergraduate Research Experience”).
- Above all else, students must be dependable, as we recruit and schedule community members to come to campus and participate in our research.
- All research assistants must commit to a minimum of one full year in the lab to be involved. No student will be accepted for a single-semester experience (it simply takes too long to train on eye-tracking technology, and Dr. Wolfe wants you to be able to get fully trained and put your skills to practice).
- Students will be expected to commit 5-10 hours each week to research activities. Course credit is available for interested students.
- Students must be detail-oriented, a team player, comfortable working with older adults, and highly motivated.
- Preference will be given to Psychology majors, Gerontology minors, and students who plan to pursue graduate or professional programs in Psychology.
- Must have taken Introduction to Psychology. Also, having completed Statistics and Experimental Psychology will be really helpful to succeed in this lab. Additionally, some courses in Gerontology are desired but not required.
- GPA of 3.3 or higher preferred
Research responsibilities can encompass a number of different tasks, including:
- Participant recruitment and scheduling
- Subject running (running someone through an experiment)
- Data cleaning
- Literature review
- Coding of qualitative data
- and more!
Responsibilities will be assigned based on student interest and on the current status/needs of a research project. Through working in Dr. Hannah Wolfe's lab, you will grow skills related to data collection, interacting with participants and local community members, using eye-tracking technology, and data analysis.
If you work in the lab for over one year, Dr. Wolfe will try her best to get you involved in research presentations, including poster presentations at academic conferences. Dr. Wolfe is also excited to advise students in projects for distinction if you decide that it would fit your schedule and goals at Stockton.
Working in this lab is a great opportunity if you think you might be interested in graduate school or a career in research. Dr. Wolfe is happy to also mentor you through those paths while you’re working in the lab.
Please send an email of interest to Hannah.Wolfe@stockton.edu. Your email should include the following:
- Your complete name, Z number, program of study, and anticipated graduation date.
- Relevant coursework and experiences to date.
- Tell Dr. Wolfe why you are interested in becoming a research assistant and what your goals are for this research experience.
- Whether you’re interested in volunteering, Independent Study course credit, or a Project for Distinction (“PfD”)
Dr. Wolfe will follow up and schedule a time to meet over Zoom to make sure you are a good fit for the lab. You will learn more about the specific project you’d be joining. It's preferable that students start at the beginning of a semester (Fall/Spring). The further in advance you can reach out, the better chance that there is an opening in the lab for you to join. Additionally, if you’d be interested in summer research, let Dr. Wolfe know to see if that is possible (and could get you course credit).
For Community Members (Older Adults)
If you are interested in participating in future studies, please send Dr. Hannah Wolfe an email at Hannah.Wolfe@stockton.edu.
Some important information to note:
- Even if we are not currently collecting data, we will reach out as soon as a new study begins.
- We typically aim to recruit adults 55 years or older.
- We often have both online and in-person studies running, so we can accommodate you wherever you are located.
- In-person studies are typically scheduled for mid-morning through the afternoon on weekdays (at this time we cannot accommodate participants who would like to participate after 5pm or weekends).
- Older adult participants will be compensated for their participation for most studies (compensation may vary by study)
Your willingness to participate is greatly appreciated and makes our research possible!
