Free Wireless Internet Services
Free Xfinity WiFi Hotspots
Until further notice, all Xfinity WiFi Public Hotspots are now open to everyone on
the “xfinitywifi” SSID. Public hotspots can be found in small/medium businesses and
outdoors in commercial areas. Non-Xfinity subscribers need to accept Terms and Conditions
to access the network and repeat when requested to continue to receive free unlimited
access.

Comcast Free Internet Service for low-income households.
Comcast is taking immediate steps to help connect low-income families to the Internet
at home. New Internet Essentials customers will receive two free months of Internet
service, which is available to all qualified low-income households for $9.95/month
plus tax. Apply by April 30, 2020.

Free Spectrum WiFi Hotspots
In response to COVID-19 Spectrum has opened its WiFi hotspots to all, with unlimited
internet access, until 5/16/2020.

You can initially connect your laptop or mobile device(s) to the internet from campus
using Stockton-Wireless.
Upon opening your browser, you'll see a Stockton University Wireless Access notice.
Read the "Acceptable Usage Standards of Computing and Communication Technology", then select I accept Stockton University's Acceptable Use Standards and click on Submit. The system will provide you with unlimited access to the Internet. After 12 hours
you will have to follow these steps again to regain access to the Internet.
To set up a permanent connection using Stockton-Secure-Wireless, select it from the
list of available connections and enter your goStockton Portal username and password.

- Select Settings
- Select WiFi
- Under Choose a Network, select Stockton-Secure-WiFi
- Enter your Username and Password and select Join

- When prompted, select Trust on the wifi.stockton.edu certificate

- Click the Apple Logo in the top-left
- Select System Preferences
- Click Network and select WiFi from the left
- Select Stockton-Secure-WiFi from the Network list
- Enter your Username and Password and select Join
- Click Apply and close the configuration window

- In the App list, Select Settings
- Select Wi-Fi
- Ensure Wi-Fi networking is on

- Select Stockton-Secure-WiFi
- Enter your Username and Password and select Connect
- If you are prompted for a certificate, choose Accept

Windows 8 / 8.1
- Using the System Icons, Select Connections
- Ensure Airplane Mode is off
- Ensure Wi-Fi is on

- Select Stockton-Secure-WiFi from the list
- Enter your Username and Password and select Connect

Windows 8 natively supports Stockton-Secure-WiFi. Users may have noticed that Manage Wireless Networks has disappeared from the Network and Sharing Center. Advanced users may want to manually
manage their wireless network settings using the netsh command-line tool in Windows.Advanced Configuration
Note: Windows 8 does not require use of the automated installer.

Windows XP Computers
After 12 years, support for Windows XP ended April 8, 2014. There will be no more
security updates or technical support for the Windows XP operating system. It is very
important that users migrate to a modern operating system. Users moving to a modern
operating system will benefit from dramatically enhanced security, broad device choice
for a mobile workforce, higher user productivity, and a lower total cost of ownership
through improved management capabilities.
More Information
Stockton recommends that users update to a more recent operating system, however users
still running Windows XP must configure their systems to connect to Stockton-Secure-WiFi.
An automated installer exists to broker the connection to Stockton-Secure-WiFi without
requiring additional user intervention.

Windows 7 and Vista Computers
Windows 7 and Vista clients must specially configure their systems to connect to Stockton-Secure-WiFi.
An automated installer exists to broker the connection to Stockton-Secure-WiFi without
requiring additional user intervention.

Users who wish to manually configure their wireless network settings without running
the installer may do so by following these instructions.
Windows 7 / Vista Manual Configuration
- Click Start, and select Control Panel
- Select Network and Sharing Center
- Select Manage Wireless Networks
- Select Add
- Choose Manually Create a Network Profile
- Enter the following settings:
Network Name: Stockton‑Secure‑WiFi Security Type: WPA2‑Enterprise Encryption Type: AES 7. Check start this connection automatically and click OK
8. Select Change Connection Settings
9. Select the Security Tab
10. Verify the following settings Authentication Method: Microsoft Protect EAP (PEAP) Enable Fast Reconnect is Checked Remember my Credentials is Checked 11. Select Settings next to PEAP
12. Verify the following settings Validate Server Certificate is Checked Connect to these Servers: auth1.ac.stockton Auth Method: Secured Password (EAP‑MSCHAP v2) 13. Select Configure next to Secured Password
14. Verify the following settings Uncheck Automatically use my Windows logon name... 15. Click OK, OK, and Close to return to the Desktop
16. Using the System Icons in the lower right, select the Network Icon
17. Select Stockton‑Secure‑WiFi and click Connect
18. Enter your Username and Password and select OK
19. If prompted with a Windows Security Alert, select Connect

Students residing on campus are able to connect to Stockton's LAN which will provide them with very fast access to the Internet (You’ll need an Ethernet
cable) Also, wireless access is available in the main academic complex.
Stockton has undergone significant improvements to both the wired and wireless network
infrastructure. These changes make it possible to support increased bandwidth consumption
in the academic complex, as well as in the residential communities. As a result, support
for a variety of gaming consoles and entertainment devices is now available for residential students.
Students are reminded that the illegal downloading of music and video files is a violation
of the Acceptable Usage Standards of Computing and Communication Technology and Federal copyright law.
Gaming & Media Devices
Students living on campus are able to connect their game consoles and media streaming
devices to the network by using Stockton's self managed device registration system,
NetReg.
Below, you will find instructions for locating the MAC address for various devices
that can be registered on the network.
Playstation Consoles
Playstation 4
- Turn on your Playstation 4 without any disk in the drive and wait for the menu to
pop up.
- Navigate to the "Settings" icon (located on the far left).
- Select the "System" icon under the Settings menu.
- Select "System Information."

Playstation 3
- Navigate to "Settings" and select "System Settings."
- Scroll down and select "System Information."
- Your MAC Address will be the first item listed.

Xbox Consoles
Xbox One
- Navigate to My Games and Apps
- Select Settings.
- Select Network.
- Select Advanced Settings.
- The MAC Addresses for the wired and wireless adapters should be displayed.

Xbox 360
- Navigate to My Xbox on the Xbox Dashboard.
- Select System Settings.
- Select Network Settings.
- Select Configure Network.
- Under Basic Settings check to make sure IP Settings is set to Automatic.
- Go to Additional Settings.
- Select Advanced Settings.
- The MAC Addresses for the wired and wireless adapters should be displayed.

- Select "System Settings" from the HOME Menu.
- Scroll down through the menu and select "Internet."
- The Nintendo Switch console's MAC address will be listed under "System MAC Address."

- From the Wii U Menu, select "System Settings."
- Using the Left Stick select the "Internet" icon and press the A Button.
- Select "View MAC Address" and wait a moment for the MAC address to be displayed.
- When you are finished, tap "Back."

- From the HOME menu, highlight and select the System Settings Icon.
- Select "Internet Settings."
- Tap "Other Information."
- Tap "Confirm MAC Address." Your system's MAC Address will be displayed on the screen.

Amazon Alexa & Fire TV
Fire TV/Stick
- From the Main Menu go to Settings
- Select "System"
- Then go to "About"
- Toggle down to Network
- Look for the MAC Address (Wi-Fi)

Alexa/Echo
- In the Alexa app, open the left navigation panel and then select Settings.
- Select your device and then select Update Wi-Fi. OR If you're adding a new device
to your account, select Set up a new device instead.
- On your Echo device, press and hold the Action button until the light ring changes
to orange. Your mobile device will then connect to your Echo device.
- A list of available Wi-Fi networks appear in the app.
- Select ANY Wi-Fi network. Scroll down on this screen until you see the mac address.

- Connect to your Google Home using bluetooth.
- Once connected begin the process to connect to Wi-Fi.
- After you pick the room you are installing the Google Home in and select a Wi-Fi network,
press the three vertical dots in the upper right corner of the screen while the Google Home is searching for the
network. An option to view your MAC address should appear, and after pressing that,
the app should display the MAC address.

- From the Roku home screen, select Settings.
- From the Settings screen, select Player Info.

Apple TV

- Go to the main menu on your Apple TV, and select "Settings."
- In the Settings Menu, select "About."
- Here you can find your MAC Address, listed as either the "Wireless" or "Ethernet"
(depending on the connection you are using).
