Message from the Director
Dear Friends,

In November 1976, the lights dimmed, the curtain rose on The Birds by Aristophanes, directed by Professor Pat Hecht, and the Stockton University Performing Arts Center began its story. That first performance launched fifty years of extraordinary moments that no one could have imagined.
For the past five decades, our stage has welcomed an extraordinary range of world-renowned music, theater, and dance artists, bringing unforgettable performances to our community.
Along the way, traditions have become part of who we are. Families return each holiday season for the Atlantic City Ballet’s The Nutcracker. Our orchestra-in-residence, the Bay Atlantic Symphony has been a treasured partner for decades. Programs such as our Children’s Summer Playhouse and Imagination Station have introduced young audiences to live theater, where a lifelong passion for the arts often begins.
But our story has never been defined by performances alone. It has been shaped by the people who bring this place to life.
Audiences have shared laughter, reflection, and standing ovations. Students have discovered their passions on this stage, carrying those experiences into their lives and careers. Faculty has mentored generations of learners, while staff have worked tirelessly to uphold the Center’s standards. Donors and partners such as the Friends Association of the Performing Arts Center have helped preserve the arts.
As we celebrate this milestone anniversary, we recognize that we have always been more than a theater; we are a community where live performance remains a powerful reminder of our shared humanity. These moments, experienced together in real time, cannot be replicated.
Whether you have been with us from the beginning or are just joining us now, thank you for being part of our story.
Sincerely,

Anjanette Christy, Director
