COVID-19 Update: Course Instruction

Dear Campus Community:

Over the last week and a half, I have watched how our campus has rallied in response to escalating challenges posed by COVID-19.  On the one hand, I know that this is not the experience any of us thought we would have when the semester began.  At the same time, I have seen wonderful examples of creative problem-solving, shared learning and generous assistance.

Times like these help us understand what we are capable of achieving and allow us to put in practice the values we espouse.  We have done so together, in the Stockton way, making decisions to protect the health and safety of our campus and community while preserving our core commitment to student learning.

And it is because of that commitment that I know we will weather what lies ahead.

The spring term resumes on Wednesday, March 25. Stockton initially shifted to off-campus instruction through April 5.  We are now suspending all face-to-face instruction and extending instruction and final exams off campus through the end of the semester.

We know that you have many questions about what this means, whether you are a student at home or still living on campus, an employee working in Galloway or remotely, or a faculty member revising your courses.  Please know that we will provide updates and answers as quickly as possible regarding these important matters and others, as we continue to support the health and safety of our students as our top priority.

This is a moment of trial, but it is also a time of opportunity.  We will, I assure you, learn more about our institution and ourselves in ways that we could not have imagined just a few weeks ago.  In the meantime, please take care of yourselves, your families, and your friends.  And while most of you will not be visiting campus for some time, know that we are here for you.

Updates will be posted on the campus COVID-19 website as they become available:  https://stockton.edu/emergency-management/coronavirus.html

Best wishes,
Michelle McDonald
Interim Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs
