Title IX Notice of Nondiscrimination

Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972, 20 U.S.C. §§ 1681 et seq., and its implementing regulation, 34 C.F.R. Part 106 (“Title IX”) prohibit discrimination on the basis of sex in education programs or activities operated by recipients of Federal financial assistance. Title IX states that “No person in the United States shall, on the basis of sex, be excluded from participation in, or denied the benefits of, or be subjected to discrimination under any educational program or activity receiving federal assistance.”

The Violence Against Women Act (VAWA) crimes of stalking, domestic violence, and dating violence may also fall under sex offenses if the underlying offense is sexual in nature.
