Programmatic Assessment
Programmatic assessment is the foundation of an effective assessment plan. The systematic process in place allows the University to assess program-level student learning outcomes in a timely and sustainable way. Results of assessments are then used to improve the quality of educational programs so that students are better able to achieve intended outcomes. Assessment data is used exclusively to support continuous improvement of student learning and program effectiveness and are not used to evaluate individual faculty performance in any way.

While the MOA on Assessment states that "participation in assessment is the normal work of faculty," the Provost's Office recognizes that more in-depth assessment projects may require additional funds to adequately complete. Programs are invited to apply to the Provost Assessment Fund using the guidelines and application below.
Academic Reporting
All academic programs and interdisciplinary minors, as well as offices and centers in the Division of Academic Affairs, are required to complete annual and periodic reviews. During the periodic review year, programs are not required to submit an annual report. The Office of Academic Assessment is available for consultation regarding report writing.
Annual Reports
Annual reports are completed each year to provide updates on progress toward goals, review program health and vitality using the integrated Gray DI dashboard, and reflect on student learning outcomes data. More broadly, the report serves as an important mechanism for understanding program accomplishments, challenges, resource needs, and progress in relation to university priorities and strategic initiatives. Looking across reports also allows us to identify common themes, recognize successes, and identify opportunities for support at both the school and institutional levels.
Annual reports are completed in HelioCampus. The use of a common reporting template ensures that university leadership can review information consistently across all academic programs. The annual report provides a shared framework for understanding program needs, identifying recurring challenges, recognizing successes, and informing resource allocation, strategic planning, and continuous improvement efforts.

Periodic Program Reviews
The periodic program reivew is a comprehensive and systematic review of academic programs, centers, institutes, and offices within Academic Affairs. This framework is designed to support continuous improvement, institutional accountability, and strategic alignment in accordance with the University’s mission, values, and strategic priorities.
