September 15, 2018

Saturday, September 15, 2018 8:30 am registration. Program time: 9:00am-4:30 pm

Course Description:

Dr. Carol Davis, DPT, EdD, MS, FAPTA, Professor Emeritus of Physical Therapy at the University of Miami states in the 4th edition of her book Integrative Therapies in Rehabilitation that “it is difficult to find clinics nowadays that do not integrate holistic therapies with standardized treatments” (Integrative Therapies in Rehabilitation: Evidence for Efficacy in Therapy, Prevention, and Wellness, Fourth Edition, 2017, SLACK Incorporated, p. 3, 2017).

This six-hour continuing education course on the use of Reiki for PT’s, PT Assistants, and PT students along with OT’s, OT Assistants, and OT students concentrates on the use of Reiki, a biofield energy healing system. Reiki provides clients with the ability to help manage their own healing process. A variety of research studies that showcase Reiki’s ability to reduce stress and anxiety, enhance relaxation, improve quality of life, and reduce pain are presented. Reiki combined with PT can help improve a client’s therapeutic performance.

Common diagnoses and settings for Reiki to be provided are analyzed. Attunement to Reiki energy, hand positions, and extensive experiential practice with a variety of partners occurs. Individual and group reflection is provided throughout the course. Documentation, billing, marketing and numerous therapeutic references and resources are provided.

A Reiki Level I certificate based on the Usui Method of Natural Healing will be presented at the completion of this workshop held for 6.0 contact hours with 1.5 hours break time.
