Training Initiatives

These series of trainings were developed in direct response to a recommendation from the 2017 Faculty/Staff Campus Climate Survey.  The recommendation stated:  "It is also recommended that recurring training opportunities for faculty, staff, administrators, supervisors and managers in implicit bias, microaggressions, inclusion and anti-bullying be undertaken.

The five topics covered in this series include Standing Up to Bullying, Preventing Hostile Work Environment Harassment, Embracing Diversity & Inclusion, Overcoming Unconscious Bias and Understanding Microaggressions.  The introdouction training for each topic has been packaged as 30-minutes and topics can be covered one at a time, in pairs, or groups.  The goal is to get all employees through all five trainings and additional training opportunities on these topics will be forthcoming.

Leadership in Action (LIA) is a year-long leadership academy for managers designed to be an intensive, cohort-style, “deep-dive” on leadership competencies.  Each LIA cohort is comprised of 10-12 high performing managers from various divisions and all levels of management.  Over a full calendar year this cohort participates in a series of leadership development courses and discussions culminating in a project/presentation.  The project/presentation is designed improve or address a key institutional issue.  All of the courses offered through LIA will use curricula developed by Development Dimensions International© (DDI), a world-renowned leader in leadership development content.

Managers participating in LIA are nominated by Cabinet Members every spring. Contact Christy Cunningham for more information on this program.

New Manager Orientation (NMO) is a series of workshops focused on orienting new managers to the offices, people, tools, and resources that will help them succeed in their role of manager at Stockton University. NMO is intended for all managers new to the role at Stockton University.

For the 2019-2020 academic year we will be developing trainings focused on two areas:  Supervisory Development (for current or aspiring supervisors) and other employee trainings focused on HR processes (i.e. hiring, leaves, etc.) and career development (i.e. reclassifications, promotions, etc).  More information about specific trainings will be available during the summer.  Questions or suggestions can be directed to Christy Cunningham.
